Northwest Xfinity Series @ Darlington Speedway Tonight - Live on VRN

It's throwback night in Darlington. The Northwest Xfinity Series heads to Darlington tonight for some more fixed Xfinity racing action at a track which has earned not just one but two nicknames.

The Lady in Black or the Track too tough to tame, both equally foreboding names and both well deserved. Darlington is easily the toughest oval on the Northwest Racing Series schedule and with playoff pressure ramping up, it couldn't come at a worse time for all those drivers sitting on the playoff bubble. Both nicknames are reminders to drivers that Darlington’s rough, tough, hard-to-conquer characteristics will be a challenge.

Those challenges include a preferred groove that is right up next to an irregular shaped wall rather than along the bottom like most other tracks. A banking transition that makes the lower 2 lanes nearly undrivable in the corners, dip a tire below that middle grove in turn 2 and you are sure to go around. Making Darlington even more difficult to navigate is the unique egg-shaped configuration and decreasing radius corners. With 19 races already in the books and several playoff spots already on lockdown this season the pressure is mounting for the remaining drivers to secure a playoff spot.

The Highline at Darlington is the fast line and sure to test the nerves of all the drivers who need a good finish tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. Whatever happens, we expect to see some great racing and as always Cody Wooten will be there to cover it all live for Virtual Racing network.

NWXS Week 6 Atlanta Preview

Northwest Xfinity Series Round 6 @ Atlanta Tonight - Live on Virtual Racing Network

The Northwest Xfinity Series heads to Atlanta tonight for some more fixed Xfinity racing action. An afternoon race at Atlanta or Hotlanta is sure to be a test of skill and patience for the drivers tonight as Atlanta is known for its overall lack of grip and rough surface that just eats tires. Add to that a track temperature in excess of 104 degrees and it should be a fun race to watch.

NWXS Texas Winner

The Northwest Xfinity Series visited the Texas Motor Speedway this week for some exciting action. The turnout was fantastic, plenty of close racing took place. The number #32 driven by Seth Frazier found his way to victory lane this week, congrats!

Tonight it's round 2 of the Northwest Xfinity Series as we head to Texas Motor Speedway for 150 miles of fixed Xfinity Series racing. Last week 38 drivers showed up at Daytona and 36 took the green flag but ultimately it was series Newcomer Donovan Barr who survived the 200 mile battle of attrition to come away victorious in a photo finish (Caution ended the race).

This week we put the superspeedways behind us and head to Texas for a mile and a half of race in the afternoon sun. With track temperatures approaching 110 degrees throttle control will be the theme of this race

There are a lot of new drivers this season and last week we saw a first-time winner in victory lane. Will we see another one tonight? With a hot track and a short fuel load, this car will be a handful to get around the track 100 times so whoever drives it to victory lane tonight will have earned it.

Last Season Shawn Breitzman who took the checkered flag but it was Jason Berg who closed out his championship run last season with 2 dominant wins on 1.5 miles tracks, which I think makes these 2 drivers the favorites out there tonight. But with so many new faces in the field, it is anything but a foregone conclusion. Good luck to all tonight!

Past Texas Winners
Xfinity S1 - Corey Walters
Xfinity S2 - Shawn Breitzman

Tonight we kick off Season 3 of the Northwest Xfinity Series with the first of 33 races; a 200-mile superspeedway slugfest at Daytona International Speedway.

With several new drivers in the fold this season we are not quite sure what to expect to tonight but we have a sneaking suspicion that tonight's turnout could be our biggest yet!

We have 115 Northwest drivers signed up to compete in the series this season and of those more than 70 have requested numbers. So what does that all mean for tonight? I have no clue, your guess is as good as mine but In past seasons turnout for the first race has been in the 28 to 32 car range so with 20 new drivers on board we would not be too surprised if we approached the pit stall limit tonight.

We believe it is unlikely but should we exceed the number of pit stalls for the race tonight it will be handled as follows:

1. Top 20 drivers in points are guaranteed a grid spot. ( for the first 3 races this season we will use the previous season's point standings)
2. We will hold a separate standalone qualifying session and the remaining pit stalls will be filled based on the results of that session.
3. There will be a qualifying session in the attached race session to determine grid positioning
4. If there are enough interested drivers who did not make the cut, we will throw up another race session for that split and let iRacing officiate it.

The practice server opens up at 6:15pm Pacific tonight and the green flag drops at 8:15 tonight.

We are blown away by the interest in both the Xfinity and Truck series this season especially considering it is restricted to Northwest drivers. This is a testament to the quality of the drivers, the racing and good people in the Northwest Racing Series Community. So a big Thank you goes out to all of you that have been a part of that.

In response to this growth spurt, we have also grown our driver's committee. We'd like to thank Stephen SeilstadCorey WaltersJon OttenbacherChristopher White, and Ray Fournier for pitching in and helping out this season as members of the driver's committee and of course Shawn Breitzman for taking on the thankless task of series Admin once again!

There are a lot of new drivers in the series this season and as with all things there are sure to be some growing pains but we are pretty proud of what have and can't wait to get this thing started tonight!

It should be another great race tonight in the Northwest Racing Series and as always Charles Wooten and Virtual Racing Network will be there to cover it live. The live pre-race show kicks off at 7:45 tonight and the race broadcast will be simulcast on both Facebook and Youtube!

The Northwest Racing Series, home of the Northwest Truck Series, will launch a new Fixed Xfinity Series starting in February. The Northwest Xfinity series will run on Monday nights and will run a very similar schedule to the actual Xfinity series. We are still working out some of the details but as of now, we are looking at running run half-length races with a 60% fuel restriction and one fast repair. This series is open to Northwest club members of all skill levels.

If you are existing Northwest Truck Series members you are automatically eligible to participate in the Xfinity series. If you are not a member and wish to participate you need only to sign up for the Northwest Racing Series in the iRacing league pages. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/LeagueView.do?league=2381

We will update this post as the remaining details are ironed out and if you want to know more about us stop by our facebook page and check us out. We have a pretty active community over there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/575693859278954/

We can't wait to see you out there.
